Meet The CEO & Founder

Katia Baker

Katia Baker is the visionary CEO and founder of The House of Postiche (formerly Phive Star Hair Boutique), a brand dedicated to crafting high-quality, luxurious wigs and hair solutions.

Growing up on a Native American reservation in South Florida, Katia developed a passion for transformation through hair and makeup at a young age. This love for beauty led her to attend and graduate from cosmetology school, setting the foundation for a career built on creativity, innovation, and excellence.

After relocating to Colorado with her husband, Katia launched Phive Star Hair Boutique in 2014. She and her husband transformed their garage into an intimate, high-end salon, where she provided intricate hairstyling with a spa-like experience. While excelling in multiple areas of artistry, she became increasingly aware of the poor-quality hair extensions and wigs available on the market—many of which contained harmful materials. Her concerns deepened when she discovered that medical wigs for chemotherapy patients were not only expensive but also unrealistic and uncomfortable.Determined to change the industry, Katia committed herself to designing premium, natural-looking wigs with superior craftsmanship and longevity.

She curated a collection that offered various lengths, curl patterns, and personalized features, including custom-fitted caps, precision cuts, and bespoke coloring. In 2020, the pandemic forced Katia to shut down operations. However, this setback only fueled her ambition. She and her husband relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she reopened her business in 2021—this time as a brick-and-mortar showroom in Downtown Orlando. With this expansion, she continued refining her craft, developing new techniques, and elevating the client experience.

By 2023, Katia rebranded Phive Star Hair Boutique into The House of Postiche(Postiche, meaning “wig” in French). Shortly after, she closed her showroom to embark on a groundbreaking mobile venture—theWig Wagon. This initiative brought her closer to her clients and allowed her to collaborate with The For Nina Foundation, providing custom wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. As her brand evolved, so did her vision. In late 2024, Katia returned to her showroom space in Downtown Orlando. AlongsideThe House of PosticheandPostiche Academy(her wig-making school), she partnered withQueen Qurations, a content creation and influencer agency.

Together, these brands have formed The House of Mastery, a beautifully curated venue and creative hub designed for intimate gatherings, events, and content creators seeking a safe and inspiring space to bring their ideas to life.Katia Baker continues to redefine the beauty and hair industry through innovation, craftsmanship, and community-driven initiatives. Her latest endeavor,The House of Mastery, is set to have its grand opening on March 20, 2025, marking another milestone in her journey of mastery and impact.
