Our Patients and How to Serve Them
Our patients are living with medically related hair loss. It may come from alopecia, chemotherapy, burns, or other conditions. Many of them have already been through a difficult season, so the first thing to do is listen.
- Ask what matters most to them before you touch the unit: fit, style, comfort, or how it looks when it's on.
- Keep the conversation about the wig. Don't ask for a diagnosis or treatment details beyond what you need to fit the unit.
- Treat every appointment as private. What a patient shares stays with you.
Patients come to you for a service, not medical advice. Refer any medical question to the patient's physician.
Fitting a Cranial Prosthetic
A good fit is what makes a unit comfortable enough to wear every day. Measure before you fit, and measure the same way every time.
- Take three measurements: front to back, temple to temple, and head circumference, all at the hairline.
- Match the cap size to the measurements. A unit that is too small pinches. A unit that is too large slides and shifts.
- Check the fit with the patient seated and then standing. Look for comfort at the temples and nape, and make sure the front sits naturally.
- Make small adjustments with the patient present, and explain what you're changing and why.
Repair, Maintenance, and Care
Most repairs are small and quick when they're caught early. Good maintenance keeps a unit looking natural and lasting longer.
- Lace repair: replace or patch torn lace carefully so the new section blends with the original.
- Re-ventilation (re-knotting): re-knot thinning areas where hair strands have loosened from the base. Work in the same direction as the original hair.
- Cap and weft repair: secure loose wefts and check seams at each visit.
- Heat and products: avoid direct high heat on the lace or cap. Use gentle, appropriate products, and detangle from the ends upward with a wide-tooth comb.
- Color: Postiche Verified color services are limited to semi-permanent color only.
Our Standards and Professional Conduct
Trust is the reason patients choose a Postiche Verified partner. Keep these standards in every appointment.
- Never promise that a wig will restore, regrow, or treat hair. A wig is a cosmetic product.
- Never share a patient's name, photos, or medical details publicly without their written consent for that specific use.
- Direct patients who need help with eligibility to our patient application, so it can be verified properly.
- Be honest about what you can and can't do, including mobile or in-home appointments, which are offered case by case.
Take the Quiz
Ten questions. You need 8 correct to pass. Passing lists your salon in the Postiche Verified directory. You can retake the quiz as many times as you need.
